Liverpool v West Ham United
Liverpool play their 'catch-up' game and will be looking for a quick revenge for a recent defeat at Upton Park. The Hammers should have welcomed back most of their long term injuries by now and could give the distracted Reds a tough time - and perhaps steal a share.

Aston Villa v Middlesbrough
The arrival of Wayne Routledge gives Villa another speedy option and Martin O’Neill has assembled a decent young side. Gareth Southgate now has a ‘full deck’ of strikers to play with but this return to his old club might end in disappointment.
Blackburn Rovers v Fulham
With nothing to play for on the cup front and no relegation threat looming, Mark Hughes can focus his team on a European push. Their visitors here desperately need a run of results and perhaps an inspired Jimmy Bullard could play a key role but Fulham might succumb to the hosts here.
Chelsea v Derby County
With all their major players back now, Chelsea will look for a confidence boosting win against the basement dwellers. If the Anelka / Drogba partnership hits top gear the Blues could run up a big score against Paul Jewell’s men, whose manager must be looking forward to Championship football.
Liverpool v Newcastle United
These two have produced some exciting encounters over the years, but both sides now find themselves under pressure and this isn’t likely to be end –to-end stuff. Expect a mighty welcome for Keegan, Expect Liverpool pressure; expect the Anfield roar to celebrate a Reds success.
Portsmouth v Birmingham City
With the returning Africans now all back and those new signings raring to go, Pompey now have a big enough squad to expect a decent run towards the end of the season. Alex McLeish is trying to get his team grinding out results but the Pompey Chimes could be ringing here.
Reading v Manchester City
This is an important game for both teams. Reading’s quest for survival will be decided by their home form. City’s bid for Europe is starting to look shaky and they need to eke out some wins away from Eastlands. The Royals might just have the hunger to take the points.
Sunderland v Everton
There is a belief at the Stadium of Light that, so long as they can survive this season, the Black Cats can establish themselves at the top. The club is set up for top flight football and, in Roy Keane; they have the right man in place. A narrow home win and survival is a step closer.
Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United
exciting football but without Jermain Defoe
in opposition who will the Hammers visiting
fans boo? Under Alan Curbishley, the visitors
have tightened up but with home advantage,
Spurs can steal a win.

Wigan Athletic v Arsenal
Steve Bruce is likely to set his side up to
frustrate the slick visitors. But the difference
between Arsenal of last season and this
year’s model is a ‘Plan B’ style, using the
aerial power of Emmanuel Adebayor. Hard to
see the Latics stopping that too, so an away
win is on the cards.

Saturday, March 15, 2008
Arsenal v Middlesbrough
Boro produced a major shock when beating
the Gunners at the Riverside earlier in
the season. Arsene Wenger’s title-chasers
have enough reasons to win this game
without needing a revenge motive and they
should keep the pressure on at the top with a
straight forward success.
Derby County v Manchester United
Another potential hammering for the woeful
Rams. United will relish the chance to pile up
the goals and make sure they keep that goal
difference advantage over their rivals that is
worth an extra point. A wide-margin win
for the visitors and a yet more goals for the
prolific Cristiano Ronaldo are predicted.
Liverpool v Reading
The Royals will come to play, just the approach
Liverpool need from teams visiting
Anfield as an open game is definitely a major
help to the likes of Gerrard and Torres. Rafa
Benitez might find himself coming under
increasing pressure for fourth but this should
be a welcome three points.
Portsmouth v Aston Villa
It was always going to be tough for Pompey
to maintain their early-season form but a
push for a UEFA place is still on the cards.
Villa on the other hand, have continued to
impress and Martin O’Neill does the same.
The Irishman and his side could leave the
South coast with a draw.
Sunderland v Chelsea
Roy Keane has tended to focus on the games
against teams around him as the big ones.
Using clashes with the top clubs as a chance
to experiment is a novel approach but one
that has served Keano well. He will surprise
all if he inspires his team to any reward here
and we fancy an away win.
West Ham United v Blackburn Rovers
The Hammers might not be playing the kind
of football the club is renowned for but they
continue to get the right results. With the
likes of Faubert, Ashton and Bellamy on the
way back to form, a rousing end to the season
is on and they should see off Rovers.
Wigan Athletic v Bolton Wanderers
A real Northwest derby six-pointer, this. Wigan
have enough offensive assets to be confident of
winning games like this, so long as the pressure
doesn’t get to them and Titus Bramble can cut
out those game-losing errors he is becoming
renowned for. Home win, probably.

Fulham v Everton
Will the Roy Hodgson revolution kick-in in
time to save the Cottagers from the drop? It
would appear unlikely and many are writing
the West Londoners off already. A win here
could change things but Everton have goals
of their own and could score enough of them
to hammer a nail in Fulham’s coffin.
Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs’ false table position has gradually been
repaired and we’ll never know how much
of a difference Ramos for Jol made. They
could well be the form team over the closing
weeks and can put a dent in City’s home
ground supremacy. Mildly surprising away
win predicted.

Birmingham City v Newcastle United
Recent displays at the Emirates quickly burst
the bubble of enthusiasm that engulfed Newcastle
fans following Kevin Keegan’s return.
But it will surely take time for the returning
boss to get back in the swing. A few solid
performances are needed and a point here
will be gladly taken.

Aston Villa v Sunderland
With five players in Fabio Capello’s first
England squad and others on the fringe, Villa
are clearly on the up. The Young/Agbonlahor
combo can cause commotion in the best
defences and are certainly likely to against
Sunderland who should be unable to stop a
home success.
Blackburn Rovers v Wigan Athletic
This has been a ‘treading water’ season for
Rovers with an early Euro exit and FA Cup interest
over in the 3rd round. They could still
push for a UEFA spot once again, but their local
rivals are fancied to grab a point here with
their greater need showing.
Bolton Wanderers v Manchester City
The famous win Bolton gained over City’s
neighbours seems a fair while back now and
the continuing worry over a lack of goals sees
the Championship a distinct possibility. Can
they complete the Manchester double? City
should grab at least one goal which should be
worth at least one point.
Everton v West Ham United
The Hammers have a decent record on the
road this term, but Everton are definitely one
of the tougher teams to visit. Yakubu, Johnson,
Cahill, Anichebe and Arteta have enough
creation to carve out the chances, and to take
them, so take a home win here.
Middlesbrough v Derby County
Gareth Southgate will look on this as a home
banker and County’s displays give us no
reason to debate that. Strong contenders to
finish with the lowest ever Premier points
total, this game is likely to take them closer to
that unwanted title.
Newcastle United v Fulham
KK welcomes his former club and how Fulham
must long for those days. This long trip
to the North East gives them a chance to start
an unlikely end-of-season escape run. The
home team haven’t exactly set the world on
fire under their new boss, but they might get
a welcome win here.
Reading v Birmingham City
Both of these teams will be glad to see the
back of this season – so long as it ends with
that all-important survival in the top division.
They should just about manage it, but much
will depend on Dave Kitson for the home
team here. He can fire the Royals to a muchneeded
three points.
Tottenham Hotspur v Portsmouth
Jermain Defoe, along with Sol Campbell,
Pedro Mendes, Noe Pamarot and Sean Davis,
gets the chance to revisit his former club.
Spurs have enough firepower to cope with
Defoe’s departure but he might come back to
haunt his former club here and earn Pompey
a point.

Manchester United v Liverpool
The second instalment of Super Sunday
this term and this one could go a long way
towards deciding the destination of the title.
United secured a vital win at Anfield earlier
in the campaign but home advantage
and current form counts for little in these
encounters. We fancy Liverpool’s big guns to
step up and the Reds to grab a crucial draw.
Chelsea v Arsenal
Whilst Chelsea have it all to do to catch the
Premier top two, this game and the one
against Man United next month could decide
who takes the crown. The Blues have turned
Stamford Bridge into a true stronghold and
their powerful style of play is one of the few
Arsenal have problems with. It points to a
home win and a huge dent in the Gunners’
title hopes.
